Volunteer teachers wanted!
We have links with a number of schools in the areas where we work and improving English skills is always a priority. If you are an experienced teacher and have time to give, this could be a truly rewarding and unforgettable experience for you. You would need a sense of adventure, to appreciate different cultures and have an interest in education, helping both children and teachers.
The work is likely to focus on helping the staff to understand and teach spoken English and also teaching pupils English. Other subjects could be taught, depending on your particular skills. Living conditions would not always be perfect and you would have to adapt to the local culture - and you don’t get paid! You would, however be housed and fed and watered, and well looked after by the local people - and we would make sure that you get to see some interesting places at weekends and holidays. We are a charity, and don’t have huge resources - our ethos is that the little money we do spend tends goes on infrastructure and making things happen with volunteer labour in the countries in which we operate.
In the past we have had a married couple as volunteers, both retired teachers, but we are not necessarily looking for another couple and you don’t need to be from the UK (although English should be your first language) - you could be young and miles away from retirement - all that is required is enthusiasm for teaching and that sense of adventure! The length of time spent with a school is variable - it could be as short as a couple of months or as long as a year.
If you think you have the skills required and would like to do something remarkable for others, please contact us for more information or an informal chat -we would love to hear from you - please contact -
